List comparison data
Text entered into the DiffLists comparison workspace is processed locally by JavaScript running in your browser. The comparison feature does not transmit, store, or log that text on our servers.
File imports and data preparation
When you open or drag a supported text, CSV, TSV, log, or Markdown file into the comparison workspace, your browser reads that file locally. The file is not uploaded to DiffLists. Cleaning, splitting, sorting, deduplication, and comparison actions also run in the browser.
Technical data
Our hosting provider may process ordinary request information needed to deliver the website, such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamps, and security logs. This information is separate from the list contents entered into the tool. DiffLists does not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or behavioral analytics.
Downloads and clipboard access
Clipboard and download actions happen only when you select them. Your browser may ask for permission before allowing clipboard access. Export files are created on your device.
Local storage and theme preference
DiffLists may store your light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage. The comparison workspace does not use local storage to save the lists you paste. Closing or refreshing the page clears unsaved workspace state.
Third-party links
Guides may link to external documentation or services. Those websites have their own privacy practices, and DiffLists does not control how they process information. Review a third party’s policy before providing data to it.
Data-minimization guidance
Even with local processing, use only the fields needed for your task. For example, compare a customer ID column instead of copying an entire customer record. Do not paste passwords, authentication secrets, payment-card data, or other credentials into any browser tool.
Policy changes
This policy will be updated if analytics, contact forms, accounts, advertising, or other data-processing features are introduced. The update date at the top of this page will change when the policy changes. Read the terms of use for the conditions that apply when using the site.
