Why we built it
Comparing two lists is a tiny task that shows up everywhere: checking new subscribers, validating inventory, reconciling research sources, reviewing URL migrations, or finding what changed in an export. It should not require a complex spreadsheet formula or uploading sensitive data to an unknown server.
What DiffLists does
DiffLists is a browser-based list comparison and data reconciliation tool. It calculates the values found only in List 1, only in List 2, in both lists (intersection), anywhere across the lists (union), and on exactly one side (symmetric difference). The same operations work for names, email addresses, URLs, product SKUs, IDs, spreadsheet columns, and other text-based records.
The list comparison workspace also supports delimited input, text and CSV imports, case-sensitive matching, whitespace normalization, blank-line filtering, natural sorting, copying, and downloads.
How the comparison works
The tool normalizes each item according to the options you select, creates distinct sets for both sources, and calculates their relationships in the current browser tab. Results are deterministic: the same two lists and matching options produce the same output. Your browser performs the work; DiffLists does not receive or store the values you compare.
